US-based online sales platform Shopify has announced the launch of its new point of sale system.
The POS system is iPad-based with an attached card reader and uses the same management system that retailers use for their online stores.
Shopify’s vice president of product Adam McNamara said: "The future of retail is all about consumer choice. Consumers want to buy what they want, where, when, and how they want it.
"They might want to buy in-store and have it shipped to them. They might want to buy online and pick it up in store. Retailers need to be ready to tailor their retail experience around the unique needs and wishes of consumers."
Other features of the POS system include mobile credit card processing, analytics and reporting and email receipts. Merchants will also receive a receipt printer, cash drawer, and credit card reader along with the device.
