Gemalto has been selected by the Infocomm
Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) to deploy mobile NFC
contactless services across the country.

Gemalto will be delivering mobile NFC services
across the city through the development of a trusted third party
(TTP) infrastructure, based on its Trusted Services Manager (TSM)
solution. The mobile services will include payments, ticketing and
interactive posters.

Singapore banks and payment services will be
able to deliver mobile NFC services to customers of all mobile
networks using the NFC infrastructure, developed around
Gemalto’s.

Tan Teck Lee, president of Gelmato Asia told
Electronic Payments International:

“The NFC infrastructure will not only allow
consumers to make cashless payments, but they will also get to
enjoy a new shopping experience with two additional modes – reader
and peer-to-peer – for value added services such as couponing,
loyalty programs and social media interactions.”

Ronnie Tay, CEO of IDA said: “The TTP
infrastructure will enable prospective service providers to reach
out to all mobile subscribers in Singapore. Such ubiquitous access
will spur the growth and adoption of innovative NFC mobile
services, and in turn transform Singapore’s payment landscape.”
