Square, a California-based merchant services aggregator and mobile payments company, has released a new redesigned version of its credit card reader, Square Reader, which now is thinner than its predecessor and bears new electronic interiors.
The sleek design of the card reader is to compliment with smartphones and tablets it is paired with, claims the company.
The new design also features a full-screen dashboard in the app for any time availability of sales and activity.
Square hardware head, Jesse Dorogusker, said they basically replaced the off-the-shelf components in the card reader with their own custom-designed parts.
"It will work on more Android phones and even the most dinged up credit cards," Dorogusker added.
The new updated Square Reader is available for purchase on the company’s website, and will be available in more than 30,000 stores from 2014.
