Payment processing company Square has launched a fully integrated point of sale (PoS) system for restaurants dubbed Square for Restaurants.

The new PoS system centralises a restaurant’s operations in one place, enabling managers to remotely update menus and floor layouts across various terminals and locations as well as offers tip splitting, fraud protection, and performance tracking.

Square further said that its new system enables businesses to view delivery and pickup orders directly within the PoS, thereby speeding up operations and lowering incorrect orders.

Square seller lead Alyssa Henry said: “Square for Restaurants offers everything you need to run a restaurant at full speed — with none of the distractions or pain points you don’t want.

“Now, we can serve larger restaurant customers, as well as grow with those who have been using Square services from the start. With Square for Restaurants, we’ve created a cohesive solution to help our sellers supercharge their entire restaurant business.”

The system will integrate food delivery service Caviar, which was acquired by Square four years ago, leading to a combined first-party ordering platform and PoS.

Caviar lead at Square Gokul Rajaram said: “Caviar’s experience working with thousands of top restaurants across the country gave us the unique insight we needed to build a one-stop point of sale with on-demand delivery integration. We’re excited to bring Caviar and Square together and let our restaurant partners grow their businesses through delivery in an even more effortless way.”
