Zimbabwean mobile operator Telecel has expanded its mobile payment services with the launch of Tel One bill payment services through its e-wallet option Telecash.
To leverage the new service, Telecash subscribers need to opt for the ‘pay bill’ option and then select Tel One customers from Telecash menu. The customers would then have to feed their telephone account number and specify the amount to be paid.
The users will also be asked their Telecash personal identification number (PIN) during the transaction to confirm their identity as the holder of the Telecash account connected with their mobile phone and after the payment is completed, the subscriber will receive a transaction ID.
Telecash users can also add Tel One to the list of favorites on the Telecash menu for quick access.
Designed as an e-wallet, users can deposit money into their Telecash account, which can be withdrawn at any Telecash agent, or can be used to make payments for bills, goods and services. The service also provides the users with an option to transfer money from their Telecash account to the mobile phone of anyone else, regardless of network.
Further, the money can also be transferred to a bank account held with a bank signed up with the Zimswitch ZIPIT platform, along with an option to load salaries into a Telecash account using the Telecash bulk payments facility.
