Threat intelligence firm ThreatQuotient has partnered with Visa to improve detection of and protection from cyber-attacks targeting payment data.
Under the alliance, ThreatQ threat intelligence platform will be combined with Visa Threat Intelligence service. In addition, the integrated solution will provide the context, customisation and collaboration required to identify breaches in advance.
Visa Threat Intelligence is a subscription service run through the Visa Developer Center API. It also shares data on Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) obtained from Visa investigations into payment breaches.
Apart from identifying a breach, the integrated solutions will help in boosting cyber defences to prevent future card fraud.
ThreatQuotient director of alliances Haig Colter said: “Retailers are investing heavily in cybersecurity to protect payment card data and other personally identifiable information, and ThreatQuotient is proud to partner with a global leader like Visa to bring a stronger security resource to this market.
“Cyber criminals are reusing tactics, techniques and procedures, leaving a recognizable trail of breadcrumbs and insights into the very attacks they are launching.
“This partnership is going to provide defenders with the tools needed to put these insights into action, offering a leg-up against adversaries and helping to automate processes and make existing resources, both people and infrastructure, even more effective.”
A research in 2017 showed that the US and Europe recorded the highest payment data breaches. Statistics further reveal more than 2x surge in the proportion of retail companies affected by a breach since 2015.
