UK based mobile payment device manufacturer Thyron is offering a payment terminal compatible with all major smart device application platforms.
The PosMate Smart terminal uses a mobile application in which the merchant enters the transaction’s amount and the customer swipes his card or uses chip-and-PIN.
Similarly to its rival iZettle, Thyron’s terminal is aimed at small and micro merchants. The company is hopeful that its recent iOS accreditation and approval by VISA and MasterCard will give PosMate Smart the edge in this section of m-payment market.
Michael Ault, Thyron Systems Managing director, said: "Thyron has delivered the UK’s only standalone M-Commerce device to be fully certified and approved by both VISA and MasterCard. All other deployments to date by Thyron have been based around the Android and Blackberry platforms and the addition of the Apple integration further strengthens our lead in this rapidly developing market."
Thyron Systems shipped 10,641 POS terminals in 2011 the 14th largest number in Europe according to the Nilson Report.
