Telecommunication firm Tigo Tanzania has launched its money transfer service Tigo Pesa in the country.
The newly launched platform will enable customers from all networks to transact funds to any Tigo customer in Tanzania.
Tigo head of mobile financial services Ruan Swanepoel said: "This consumer-centered innovation speaks to financial inclusion as it helps draw more cash into the formal financial system and helps improve customers’ lives by simplifying transactions.
"From now onwards, customers of other mobile money networks such as M-Pesa, Airtel Money and EasyPesa will be able to transact with Tigo Pesa customers and pay for goods at our wide network of Tigo Pesa merchants spread all over the country."
Customers from across all networks can now pay for services or products at any merchant shops across the country displaying ‘Lipa hapa kwa Tigo Pesa’ sign.
