American international transportation network company Uber has entered into a strategic partnership with Indian telecom giant Bharti Airtel, allowing users to pay via Airtel’s mobile wallet service -Airtel Money.
Under the partnership, all Uber cab users in Mumbai will have access to free high-speed WiFi powered by Airtel 4G. This service will soon be launched for all Uber riders pan India.
The alliance will offer riders with hassle-free payment option and will make Uber the first technology platform to officially launch Airtel Money.
Through this deal, Airtel will also become Uber’s official telecom partner across India and also offer mobile, data and device plans to Uber driver-partners.
As an introductory offer, new Uber riders who top up their Airtel Money wallet can earn up to INR500 for free for a limited time.
Uber has also announced exclusive discounts promotions, discounts and experiences to Airtel customers including INR500 off their first ride upon using Airtel Money.
