UnionPay International (UPI) has released a new Content and Service Platform to develop ‘Pay+’ digital ecosystem in order to support partners amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The newly launched solution will deliver value-added services for 62 digital wallets developed or upgraded to UnionPay standards in 13 countries and territories.
The Content & Service Platform will enable institutions to deliver instant payment for utilities, transport, lifestyle as well as entertainment.
Outside mainland China, the platform will offer partners a wide array of technical resources to meet the requirements of the evolving mobile payment and lifestyle landscape.
“Making available more value-added services, the platform will serve as an essential tool for digital wallets to maintain their competitive advantages and industry service providers can enlarge their distribution channels to increase user traffic,” the payment giant said in a statement.
Users across the globe will be able to access multiple services seamlessly via one single mobile application.
The company noted that it expedited the launch of the Content & Service Platform in the wake of the pandemic as digital payment services reduce the risk of person-to-person transmission.
The UnionPay app rolled out nine online payment services for public utilities and lifestyle services in Hong Kong via the newly launched platform.
