UnionPay International (UPI) has partnered with Huawei and the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) to roll out Huawei Pay mobile wallet app in Pakistan.
The app is Huawei’s first new mobile wallet service that features dual payment options overseas and allows facilitates both contactless as well as QR code payments.

By GlobalDataThe Chinese payment firm said that Pakistani citizens who have a phone made by either Huawei or Honor will be able make online money transfers using either QR codes or contactless option.
Users only need to link their card to their mobile phone once and they can then access multiple mobile payment methods.
Users can access the payment function without opening the app, using the fingerprint authentication feature.
Factors contributing the launch of Huawei Pay in Pakistan
The company said that increasing number of young people in the country are relying on smartphones and digital wallets to make payments.
Around 300,000 merchants in the country accept payment by UnionPay QR code.
UnionPay issued 12.6 million cards locally, of which 2.75 million cards were issued in partnership with NBP.
To this day, apart from mainland China, over 4.5 million merchants accept UnionPay mobile service in 57 countries and regions.
UnionPay has developed 53 mobile-wallet products and has launched in 13 markets.
