Fintech company Unzer has selected Mastercard as its open banking partner to power e-commerce payments through its payment gateways in Germany, Austria, and Denmark.
This collaboration seeks to create a unified digital payment ecosystem, leveraging Mastercard’s open banking-driven solutions to enable account-based payments.
It will provide consumers with more secure and seamless payment options, offering flexibility for online purchases.
Open banking, as opposed to traditional payment methods, allows bank account holders to make fast digital payments directly to merchants using existing bank authentication processes, including biometric verification.
Unzer chief commercial officer Pascal Beij said: “At Unzer, we are committed to delivering the most integrated payment solutions, and our collaboration with Mastercard allows us to elevate that offering. By tapping into Mastercard’s trusted open banking infrastructure, we can drive innovation and empower merchants with faster, more convenient payment experiences that meet the needs of today’s digital economy.”
Mastercard open banking APEMEA EVP Valérie Nowak said: “We’re thrilled to drive the evolution of an account-based payment solution that will streamline online transactions, enhance security, and broaden payment options through our collaboration with Unzer.
