Visa has introduced a new technology, known as Visa ID Intelligence, which enables issuers, acquirers and merchants to adopt emerging authentication technologies and create convenient ways to shop, pay and bank for consumers.
Visa ID Intelligence, which can be accessed through Visa Developer Platform, provides a precise selection of third-party authentication technologies with simple integration using Visa APIs and SDKs, thereby allowing clients to create, test and adopt new authentication solutions.
The new technology includes ‘Identity Documents’ feature that evaluates identification documents and matches selfies to photo IDs such as driver’s license, passport, military ID. Simultaneously, the technology extracts and converts document information into digital form.
The new platform also comprises ‘biometrics technology’, which enables clients to use biometrics such as eyes, face, fingerprint and voice to create simpler authentication experiences that meet consumer needs.
Visa senior vice president of risk and authentication products Mark Nelsen said: “A consumer encounters many authentication moments during the course of a day, whether making a payment, checking a balance, or sending money to family and friends.
“But traditional methods for authenticating a customer can create frustration or are simply not designed for the new ways people are shopping and paying.
