Visa has partnered with Nigerian fintech Paga to accelerate secure and convenient mobile payments for merchants and consumers.
Through the partnership, Paga account holders can transact on the Visa network. In addition, both companies are working together to launch new merchant acceptance solutions involving QR codes and NFC technology.

Paga is a mobile payment company, that made its initial mark in West Africa before expanding to Ethiopia and Mexico. The company offers a multi-channel network enabling customers to transfer money, pay bills and make digital payments through its app.

As part of the alliance, Paga will join the Visa Fintech Fast-Track Programme. Visa’s fast-track programme aims to make it easier for fintechs to access Visa’s payments network. Furthermore, the programme is part of Visa’s global strategy to support a broad range of players.
According to Paga, collaborating with Visa will allow the company to drive global expansion.
