Visa’s V.me digital wallet is to be released in Australia this year allowing consumers to carry out online transactions using just a user name and password.
The wallet stores a consumer’s delivery address, and debit and credit card details into a single account, allowing them to pay by logging in instead of entering their details again.

An official release date has not been given yet, however the e-wallet solution is alleged to be available just before Christmas.
More than 40 financial institutions, including three of the ‘Big Four’ banks (National Australia Bank, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group and Westpac) have reportedly signed up to offer the service to their customers.
Local retailers, such as JB Hi-Fi, Cotton On, City Beach and Lorna Jane have also signed up to allow consumers to use the digital wallet on their websites.
V.me will be going up against MasterCard’s Masterpass digital wallet that was launched in Australia in March.
