Western Union has entered into a partnership with French smartphone manufacturer Wiko to pre-install its money transfer app on all new smartphones which have been launched since July this year.
The preloaded app will give users direct access to Western Union‘s digital and global physical money transfer networks, connecting over 200 countries and territories, with payment in 130 currencies.
Consumers can transfer funds via the app with just few taps and fund the transaction from a bank account, credit card or cash.
The companies said that this product feature will be deployed initially in France but will soon be expanded to other countries where Wiko smartphones are sold.
Western Union Digital Money Transfer head Khalid Fellahi said: “Western Union is constantly evolving to provide consumers increased choice, channel and opportunity. With this new collaboration, Western Union will be available instantly for consumers who purchase Wiko phones in France, without the need to download the app, providing an added convenience for consumers today who are increasingly mobile, connected and in need of instantaneous, easily accessible services.”
