German payments firm Wirecard has joined forces with Orange Money in Romania to support contactless payments.
The two parties will offer a financial commerce platform.
Using this platform, one can use physical and virtual Orange Money debit cards, smartphones, Fitbit and Garmin smartwatches to make contactless payments.
Orange Money Romania CEO Haris Hanif said: “The partnership with Wirecard is an integral part of the digital solution Orange Money offers on the Romanian market and an additional guarantee of the quality of service that our customers are accustomed to and expect from us.”
Users in Romania can now make instant P2P payments through the Orange Money app.
One can also use the virtual card in the app to make internet purchases.

Under the agreement, Wirecard will be in charge of transaction processing and settlement, card issuing and personalisation, and authorisation.
The latest alliance builds on the existing partnership between Wirecard and Orange, which dates back to 2014.
