Payments technology firm Wirecard has made Apple Pay available to users of its mobile payment app boon in Germany.
Users of boon in Germany already have access to Google Pay. Now, iOS device users can access the boon app at the App Store.
Customers can top up their boon account with Visa or Mastercard credit card as well as through bank transfer. This phases out the requirement to own a credit card from Apple Pay-supported banks.
Wirecard executive vice president of consumer solutions Georg von Waldenfels said: “We are delighted to now offer boon via Apple Pay to all owners of an Apple device.
“Together with Apple Pay, we are further enhancing the user experience for consumers and thus advance the digitisation of payment processes globally.”
Apple Pay does not store the actual card numbers on the device or its server. Instead, it allots a unique device account number that is stored on the mobile after encryption.
