WISeKey International, a cybersecurity company, has revealed plans to establish a BlockChain Centre of Excellence in Mauritius to assist the Mauritius Government to create a blockchain ecosystem.
The centre will collaborate with the Mauritius Board of Investment on this project and develop a blockchain platform.
The centre will conduct research, rapid pilot prototyping, co-creation of use cases and IP creation on blockchain technology and platforms. It will provide access to both policy, technical and business expertise around blockchain.
WISeKey said it will be cooperating with local companies participating at the centre on building points of view, proof of concepts, policies, and educational materials.
“The Mauritius BlockChain Centre of Excellence will recommend a National Blockchain Platform to facilitate enterprises to swiftly adopt and on-board blockchain based solutions and services,” WISeKey said in a statement.
WISeKey founder and CEO Carlos Moreira said: "We strongly believe that the Blockchain Centre of Excellence will disrupt business flows and processes across different industries in Mauritius and will position the country as one of the Blockchain Platforms and Hubs."
