Payment services provider Worldline has secured two new licences, linked with the revised Payment Service Directive (PSD2), from the National Bank of Belgium.
The new licences will make the company a payment initiation service provider (PISP), thereby enabling it to initiate payment operations by transfer on behalf of B-to-B and B-to-C customers.
In addition, it authorises the company as an account information service provider (AISP) in Belgium.
The scope of the licences will also be applicable in other European Economic Area countries.
The move is expected to strengthen Worldline’s payment business in Europe, which processes more than 12 billion SEPA transactions across the continent.
Worldline Belgium CEO and Worldline Merchant Services general manager Vincent Roland said: “The PSD2 paves the way for the development of innovative payment services that have a strong impact on the daily lives of consumers and businesses.
