Xoom money transfer service has collaborated with Mexico’s convenience store chain, OXXO to facilitate money transfers from the US.

Under the initiative, Xoom customers in the US will be able to send money to friends and relatives in Mexico at any OXXO location.

Furthermore, the partnership will add more than 17,000 cash pickup locations.

Enabling global transfers

Xoom has partnered with TransNetwork to carry out this remittance service.

Xoom vice president and general manager Julian King said: “With this partnership, Xoom is furthering its mission to empower customers with the technology to send international money transfers quickly and securely. Customers can enjoy peace of mind knowing their loved ones have fast and convenient access to their funds.”

OXXO director of financial and electronic services Asensio Carrión said: “The remittance service at OXXO is strengthened thanks to the alliance with Xoom and Transnetwork. Moreover, we reaffirm our commitment with our customers by offering more options for the collection of remittances and thus contribute positively to the economic and social development of Mexico, especially in those states where these remittances are a large source of income.”
