Zapper, a mobile payment system, has now rolled out its secure payment application for smartphones in South Africa that is already available in the UK, Australia, France, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands and Sweden.
Zapper South Africa general manager Derek Wiggill was quoted by biztechafrica.com as saying that the app is initially launched in the restaurant sector and will be later rolled out into e-commerce and the payment of all bills.
"Zapper is already live at 100 sites, with another 150 already scheduled to go live shortly," Wiggill told the publication.
"Because of this phenomenal growth, in terms of our staff complement we are going from 18 people to 101 in 90 days," Wiggill further added.
Zapper, which will soon be launched in Germany, allows restaurants and outlets to add unique dynamic QR Codes to till slips, enabling users to make payments using their smart phone.
As soon as the customer gets the bill, they can open the app, scan the QR Code, and confirm the prepopulated amount to be paid.
