
Buy now pay later (BNPL) firm Zip has joined forces with Microsoft Store to enable customers in the Australian market to purchase the Microsoft products on instalment payment plans.
The partnership targets to give customers better access to Microsoft products, particularly the student market.
By signing up through the Zip App, customers will receive single use digital credit cards to use on Microsoft products.
These include Office products as well as Surface laptops and tablets and Xbox consoles and games.
Customers will get a 12-month interest free payment solution, with weekly, fortnightly or monthly repayment options.
In addition to customers, Microsoft is planning the make the BNPL offering also available to retailers and small businesses later in the year.
It also has plans to expand the service to other markets.
Recent developments
Zip recently joined Adobe’s Exchange Partner Programme, making its BNPL services available to eCommerce merchants using the Magento platform.
The partnership will enable Magento merchants to implement BNPL capabilities at checkout.
In March this year, employee experience platform Perkbox joined forces with the firm to enable instalment payments for its employees.
The same month, the firm branched into contactless payment with its Tap & Zip offering.
Australia-listed Zip offers point-of-sale credit, digital payment and lending services as well as transparent, responsible and fairly priced solutions to consumer’s and small to medium businesses (SMEs).
It is said to have more than 6.4 million customers and over 45,000 merchants globally.
In May, the firm agreed to acquire the remaining shares in European BNPL provider Twisto Payments as well as UAE-based BNPL firm Spotii.
