A new survey by Zwipe at the Fintech Connect meet revealed that major financial service firms are in support of biometric payment cards and are willing to integrate them into their portfolio.
More than 100 delegates from financial service industry participated in the Wave & Pay Survey.
Zwipe biometric card survey highlights
Around 80% of the respondents said they always use contactless payment option at checkout counters.
Furthermore, 78% said they use card as the wave-and-pay payment instrument, compared to 22% who said they prefer smart phone, while 2% said they use wearable.
Around 87% of the respondents said they want to pay above the transaction limit with contactless payment card.
The survey also found that 92% want their next bank card to be biometric.

By GlobalDataBesides, 31% said that they would expect to get a biometric card for free, while 43% are willing to pay approximately £10-£15 annual fee and 26% are ready to pay more than £15.
A statement from Zwipe read: “The results show that many in the banking community, in one of the most mature contactless payment markets in the world, see the value of integrating biometric payment applications into their product portfolios.”
Zwipe is a biometric tech company working on development and commercialisation of biometric authentication solutions.
In August this year, the company partnered with Silone CardTech to develop battery-less dual-interface biometric cards in China.
Last month, Zwipe introduced white label fingerprint enrolment solutions for biometric cards, and formed an alliance with Smart Technology Services (STS) to devise a manufacturing solution for these cards.
