The UK’s Cumberland Building Society has chosen NCR to improve contactless card services.

The building society will make use of Fractals and Authentic software from Alaric, recently acquired by NCR and will also upgrade all its NCR ATMs from Windows XP to Windows 7.

Gary Richardson, general manager for IT at Cumberland Building Society, said: "Our customers expect competitive products and innovative banking services that make their lives easier and reflect the way they want to engage with us.

"Migrating to Windows 7 on NCR ATMs and using Authentic software to enable contactless payment cards will help us improve the customer experience.

"Cumberland Building Society will maintain its position as an innovative organisation by becoming one of the first financial institutions to roll out both technologies."

Cumberland Building Society will have to use Alaric’s software to upgrade its interface to the LINK ATM network for the additional data processing contactless cards will require.
