Ukash, a global online cash payment provider, has teamed up with Pagaqui, a Portugal-based payment terminal provider, to offer wider access to safe and secure online cash payments in the country.

The partnership will allow consumers in Portugal to use cash to make safe and convenient payments online by exchanging notes and coins for an Ukash voucher in denominations from €10 to €250.

Through this alliance, Ukash will expand its network throughout the country to 4,600 sites in addition to allowing social and financial inclusion for those who do not have access to banking or credit facilities.

The deal comes as part of the Ukash’s European expansion and will strengthen its presence in Portugal by extending the availability of Ukash vouchers in Portugal.

However, Ukash can also be used to pay directly at thousands of websites globally.

Ukash marketing director, Miranda McLean, said: "With payment points across the country, this new initiative means Portuguese consumers can purchase Ukash vouchers at the same time as they go about their shopping, giving them access to a safer and more convenient way to participate in the online world."
