Wirecard and Klarna have launched a joint payment solution to embed all three Klarna payment methods into merchants’ checkout.

The solution enables merchants to embed Klarna’s solutions, Pay Now, Pay Later and Klarna Financing, via a single integration through Wirecard’s digital financial commerce platform. The aim is to boost average order value and conversions in order to fuel growth for merchants.

Luke Griffiths, Commercial VP at Klarna, said: “We are proud to team up with Wirecard to combine the best of our offerings into a single solution. Our joint partnership will enhance both the merchant and end-customer experiences, while expanding our footprint to more geographies. We are looking forward to launching this attractive solution on a global scale.”

Available in nine countries

Through the all-in-one integration, merchants can offer consumers the full range of Klarna solutions in nine countries. These include Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands and the UK.

There are also plans to roll out solution across more regions in 2020 including the US and Australia.

Kilian Thalhammer, EVP Product Management at Wirecard, said: “Shoppers seek, above all, a frictionless shopping journey. Klarna Payments will give shoppers exactly that: a hassle-free shopping experience, on their terms. Merchants will also benefit from a more streamlined and efficient integration – meaning that merchants and shoppers are that much closer to their ideal checkout experience. We are happy to join forces with Klarna.”

Furthermore, Klarna hopes to grow its potential merchant base and global consumer brand, with Wirecard’s help.

To date, Klarna has partnered with a number of major high street retailers including Topshop, ASOS and River Island.

In December, ASOS extended its partnership with the payments company to offer customers Pay in 3. The expansion comes after Klarna launched Pay in 4 in the US building on the existing relationship between the two companies.

In addition, earlier this week, Wirecard announced its partnership with Grab to process card transactions made via the GrabPay e-wallet.
