Mobile payment service Onebip by Neomobile and Asian telco SingTel have announced the launch of direct carrier billing for Onebip merchants operating in Singapore.
It will allow SingTel subscribers to use the mobile billing option during checkout on Onebip merchant websites to make a payment, by entering a PIN and a one-time password (OTP). The consumer’s mobile account will then be charged for the purchase.

This payment method doesn’t require the user to have a bank account nor a PayPal account or credit/debit card, allowing retailers to reach new unbanked customers.
The new partners announced they would also support merchants wishing to enter or develop their presence in the Singaporean market, with local promotion and marketing activity.
Onebip started in 2005 as the first mobile payment service in the world. Today, it counts more than 5bn users.
